This past Saturday morning the TangoTab team and many of the TangoTab volunteers woke up bright and early to head to Minnie’s Food Pantry in Plano, TX. If you weren’t awake before you arrived, as soon as you walked in the door that changed. If you have never met the Founder of Minnie’s you need to change that soon. Cheryl “Action” Jackson is one of the most energized, enthusiastic, caring and passionate woman that I have ever met. The energy that is running through Cheryl’s body hits you as soon as you step in Minnie’s.
Cheryl has seen hunger first hand, not just through the lives of the people that she meets on a daily basis, but that of her own. Here is a direct quote from Minnie’s website:
“I know what it feels like to be hungry, and not know how you’re going to feed your children. I know the feeling of shame you receive by having to go to the government and lose your pride and integrity because you are not able to keep food on the table. It is our mission to provide quality meals to families without the shame. Together we can reduce hunger and change lives.” -Cheryl Jackson
If you are looking for volunteer opportunities or just want to help, Minnie’s is always accepting donations (monetary and food) and every Saturday morning you can volunteer there and get right in on the action with Cheryl and her team.
Overall the day that we spent at Minnie’s Food Pantry was not so mini. There were over 170 people fed which was around 50 families. As a team we organized new food items that came in, unloaded 8 pallets and was able to experience the fight against hunger first hand.
TangoTab is a proud supporter of Minnie’s. This past Martin Luther King Day TangoTab donated 40,000 meals to Minnie’s. Help support the fight against hunger by signing up at TangoTab.com and start claiming your offers today.
Thank you Cheryl for everything that you do. It was a very humbling experience working with you and your team. We cannot wait to get back there and help again.
As they say at Minnie’s…
